2 Things to Do Before Closing Your Chase Account
Before you start closing your Chase Savings or Checking account, you’ll need to do two things to ensure the process goes as smoothly as possible.
1. Zero Out the Account You Want to Close
This step is especially important if you plan to close your account online or by calling customer care. If there’s money in your account by the time you request to close it via message or call, there’s a good chance that the process will be delayed.
Worse yet, they could freeze your account, and you won’t be able to access the money until the account is officially closed.
💡 Note: If you’re transferring your funds to another account, wait for confirmation that it has been transferred successfully before starting the process of closing your Chase account.
2. Check Your Auto-Pay Settings
If you’ve set up automatic payments on your Chase Account, then you’re going to have to either manually pay these or set up auto-pay on your new account after you close it.
Either way, you’ll need to make a list of the bills that you’re currently paying with your Chase Account.
To view your Chase Payees, you’ll need to do the following:
- Sign in to the Chase Mobile App or Chase Online
- Select ‘Pay and Transfer’
- Select ‘Pay Bills’
- Remember to make a list of your ‘Payees’ that you’ve enrolled in auto-pay
