Did your mind ever run through the dangers that come along with sticking to your current wireless service? According to a post on Reddit, someone’s phone number got hacked into by cybercriminals and this resulted in many accounts being compromised as well as identities being stolen.

Even after the victim notified Cricket Wireless about the suspicious activity, the hackers still managed to transfer her number to another carrier. Overnight, her accounts were compromised with new passwords, and her phone number was ported away. She tried to regain control by changing her major account passwords, but the hacker got back in and changed them again.

In the end, she had to freeze her credit because the hacker used information from her stolen documents to try and get a loan in her name. This incident brought immense stress and financial instability. To protect yourself from such nightmares, it’s time to reconsider your subscription with Cricket Wireless and take serious steps to secure your personal data.

What happens if I stop paying my Cricket bill?

If you stop paying your Cricket Wireless bill, here’s what happens:

  • Service Suspension: As soon as you miss your due date, your service gets suspended. This means you won’t be able to make or receive calls, send texts, or use data. However, you can still call Customer Support at 611 and 911 for emergencies.
  • Restoring Service: To get your service back, you need to pay your outstanding balance. The day you make the payment becomes your new due date. Be aware that you’ll be charged a reactivation fee—$5 if you have a single-line account or $15 if you have multiple lines.
  • Account Cancellation: If you don’t pay within 60 days, your account will be canceled. This also means you’ll lose your phone number, which can be a real hassle.

Will Cricket refund my money?

Cricket Wireless has a few refund options. Payments for services are mostly not-refundable. However, if the device is returned within the specified period and was never activated, a refund can be given.

For online purchases, returns can be requested within seven days of delivery, and you will get the refund within ten business days if approved. In-store purchase refunds follow the store’s specific return policy but service payments made in-store cannot be refunded. For more information about Cricket’s Returns and Exchanges, click here.

Summary

We have broken down the steps on how to cancel your Cricket Wireless subscription, and they are actually pretty simple. All you need to do is call Cricket customer service by dialing 1-800-274-2538 and provide them with your account information and the reason for terminating their services. Then, wait for further instructions. Once you have done that, ask if there are any remaining balances on your account before requesting an email confirmation of cancellation.

When on Auto Pay, ensure you switch it off. Otherwise, charges will keep being deducted from your account even after cancellation, which can be quite frustrating, especially when you need the money most. The best way to do this would be to go online or through the myCricket app, where you should navigate to payment settings and toggle off Auto Pay.

If you fail to pay your Cricket Wireless bill, the service will be ceased immediately after the due date passes. To get back into use again, you need to clear all unpaid amounts plus a fee charged during reactivation. Failure to settle accounts within two months shall lead to termination of such accounts accompanied by loss of ownership over phone numbers. Refunds are usually not granted on service payments,, but gadgets returned within seven days of delivery may qualify for a refund if not activated.
