Bank of America (BOA) customers digitally interacted with their finances 23 billion times in 2023. However, this figure might not be a good thing if most of these are repeated interactions due to a bad user experience.

In fact, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) recorded a total of 1,423,800 complaints against BOA last year. Arguably one of the most common issues with BOA is the difficulty in setting up auto-pay for their credit cards.

This updated 2024 guide shows you how to enroll in eBills, which is a requirement for their auto-pay service. We’ll also guide you in adding your BOA credit card as a payee to your account. And finally, we’ll show you how to pay your BOA credit card bill using another bank account.

How to Setup Auto-Pay for BOA Credit Cards

The simplest way to set up auto-pay for your Bank of America credit card is to call their credit card accounts hotline at 800 421 2110 and ask them to set it up for you.

If you want to set up auto-pay on your own, then you’ll first need to:

  1. Enroll in eBills
  2. Add your BOA Credit Card as a Payee
  3. Add an Account from Other Banks (if you’re not paying with a BOA checking account)

Summary

If you’ve made it this far and decided that there are way too many steps involved with setting up automatic payments, here’s Bank of America’s credit card accounts hotline again: 800 421 2110. Call them and give them the pleasure of setting all of this up instead.

If you still want to set it up yourself then you’ll need to remember that you need to be enrolled in eBills and have your credit card set as a payee before the automatic payments option becomes accessible.

If you’re going to auto-pay your credit card bills using an account that’s not from BOA, then you’ll have to add that external bank account to your BOA account before you can set up auto-pay.
