Bank of America (BOA) customers digitally interacted with their finances 23 billion times in 2023. However, this figure might not be a good thing if most of these are repeated interactions due to a bad user experience.
In fact, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) recorded a total of 1,423,800 complaints against BOA last year. Arguably one of the most common issues with BOA is the difficulty in setting up auto-pay for their credit cards.
This updated 2024 guide shows you how to enroll in eBills, which is a requirement for their auto-pay service. We’ll also guide you in adding your BOA credit card as a payee to your account. And finally, we’ll show you how to pay your BOA credit card bill using another bank account.
How to Setup Auto-Pay for BOA Credit Cards
The simplest way to set up auto-pay for your Bank of America credit card is to call their credit card accounts hotline at 800 421 2110 and ask them to set it up for you.
If you want to set up auto-pay on your own, then you’ll first need to:
- Enroll in eBills
- Add your BOA Credit Card as a Payee
- Add an Account from Other Banks (if you’re not paying with a BOA checking account)
How to Enroll in eBills
If you’re not enrolled in eBills, then the automatic payments feature will not be available to your account. To enroll in eBills, you’ll need to:
- Log in to your account on the website or the mobile app
- Select ‘Bill Pay’
- Look for ‘eBills’
- Select ‘Request eBills’ if eBills is not in the tab
How to Add your BOA Credit Card as a Payee
If the ‘Request eBills’ option is not showing up under the Bill Pay tab, then you’ll need to add your BOA Credit Card as a payee to your account:
- Log in to your account on the website or the mobile app
- Select ‘Bill Pay’
- Select ‘Payment Center’
- Select ‘Add Company or Person’
- Follow the prompts to add your BOA Credit Card
How to Add a Checking Account from Other Banks
If you plan to pay your credit card bill with a Bank of America checking account, then you can skip this section. If not, follow these steps:
- Log in to the Mobile App
- Select ‘Bill Pay’
- Select ‘Manage’
- Select ‘Add/Edit Accounts from Other Banks’
- Select ‘Add Account’ and follow the prompts
You can also add accounts from other banks using the website:
- Log in to the Website
- Select ‘Manage Accounts’
- Select ‘Other Pay From Accounts’
- Select ‘Add a Pay From account you own at another institution’
- Follow the rest of the prompts
